Keep your place while you edit
A context panel opens content elements alongside the page layout, keeping the surrounding structure in view. A wizard guides page creation, while module names, navigation and common actions have been reorganised.
Existing editorial teams will need to adjust some familiar habits. Walking through their regular tasks in the new backend is more useful than handing over a release checklist.
One workflow for translations
A shared wizard now handles translation. Developers can extend it with their own methods, including a translation service. The core supplies the workflow; the service and its configuration are additional pieces.
The important decisions concern the handover: what is prepared automatically, who reviews it and when the translated version goes live. Our separate article looks more closely at AI tools and extensions.
Campaign links and a new starting theme
Dedicated modules manage QR codes and short URLs. A printed campaign can keep the same address while its destination changes. Teams still need to agree who owns those redirects and how long they should remain active.
Camino is an optional bundled website theme. It offers a starting point for a site; upgrading does not replace an existing design with it. A bespoke brand experience still needs its own design, content components and integration work.
Fluid templates, ViewHelpers and forms
The LTS release includes Fluid 5.3 and additional template tooling. Changes to the Form Framework also call for checks of custom templates and ViewHelpers, alongside form rendering, validation and submission handling.

Use the support window to plan ahead
TYPO3 14 LTS receives regular bug fixes until the end of 2027 and security updates until the end of June 2029. Those dates help with planning, but they do not describe the health of a particular installation. Its extensions, PHP runtime and infrastructure have requirements of their own.
We approach an upgrade as a defined development project: an understood starting point, a separate test environment and an agreed release. New features earn their place by helping the people publishing and maintaining the site.
TYPO3 14 changes the publishing experience and the technical foundation. Deciding which additions to introduce is part of the upgrade, not something to leave until after launch.
