TYPO3 12: free security support ended on 30 April 2026. For installations still running this version, review an upgrade or separately licensed Extended Long Term Support (ELTS). ELTS is not included in the bars above.
When to plan an upgrade
Support deadlines, incompatible extensions and planned PHP changes determine the urgency.
- Prepare a TYPO3 13 installation for the next LTS release.
- Move from TYPO3 12 or an older version as regular support or compatible runtimes expire.
- Resolve extensions, site packages or integrations that prevent security updates.
- Coordinate changes to PHP, the database, hosting or deployment with the CMS.
- Introduce TYPO3 14’s improvements without a full website relaunch.
- Establish the technical facts before agreeing a budget or deadline.

The release method depends on the installation and host: an agreed maintenance window, an atomic release or a prepared parallel environment. The essentials are a repeatable build, tested data changes, a workable recovery plan and checks after launch. Sound existing architecture stays in place.
