WordPress websites, built around your content.

WordPress

We design and build WordPress websites that give editors the tools they actually need: purpose-built blocks, carefully chosen plugins and connections to the systems behind the site. We work on new websites and take existing ones forward.

Custom blocks and templates for your editors.

An interview, a service page and a campaign need different layouts. We turn those needs into a WordPress theme, with reusable blocks that keep new pages consistent without making every page look the same.

The block editor brings text, images and other elements together on the page. Patterns provide ready-made arrangements, such as an article opening or a case study summary. A block theme also makes templates and shared page elements available in the Site Editor. We decide with your team which controls editors need and which parts of the design should stay fixed.

Recurring information deserves a structure of its own. We can define content types and fields for people, locations or events, then use those records in detail pages, listings and teasers. Editors update the information in one place; the website uses it wherever it belongs.

Where WordPress fits

Articles organised by author and topic, service pages assembled from reusable blocks, campaigns connected to a CRM: three ways to build with WordPress.

Corporate websites

Services, people, locations and case studies in a bespoke design. Editors get templates for recurring tasks, with enough flexibility for the content each page needs.

Magazines and specialist publications

Articles organised by author and topic, with useful routes into related reading. We design the article templates, navigation, search and newsletter integration as parts of the same publication.

Campaigns and landing pages

Reusable blocks let the team publish new offers and campaigns. Forms and integrations send enquiries to the relevant CRM or marketing system, with the required consent and data handling built into the process.

What we do with WordPress

We build themes and content blocks, review plugins and connect WordPress to your business systems.

  • Bespoke themes, block patterns and custom Gutenberg blocks designed for your website.
  • Custom content types, editing forms and a practical approach to media management.
  • Plugin selection, review and customisation, plus development where an existing plugin is not the right fit.
  • API integrations for CRM, newsletters, product data and other business systems.
  • Technical SEO, page speed and frontend accessibility.
  • Updates, staging and deployments, with backups and security responsibilities agreed with your IT team and hosting provider.

WordPress maintenance, support and site takeovers

We start by examining the theme, plugins, custom code and integrations. Which features are still used? What provides them? Where is the documentation missing? That gives us a working record of dependencies and a basis for prioritising improvements by value, risk and effort.

Changes are prepared away from the live site. Editors and the people responsible for the affected processes review them before release. A theme replacement also needs a plan for existing content, URLs and functions.

WordPress maintenance covers core, plugins, the theme and custom code. We review dependencies and security notices, prioritise updates and prepare larger changes on a staging site. After an update, we check the agreed critical functions, such as contact forms, search, sign-in and integrations.

Before making changes, we establish how files and the database are backed up and how to restore them to a consistent state. A site takeover also covers plugin licences, credentials, source code and technical documentation. You retain the hosting contract; we coordinate any necessary work with the provider.

We agree how to contact us, the response times and who approves changes. Routine maintenance and larger development work are planned and documented separately, making it clear what is included and what needs a separate commission.

Improve WordPress or move to another CMS?

A theme rebuild, a plugin review or a different content model?

A slow theme or a tangle of plugins is first a reason to review the implementation. A move becomes more relevant when the organisation changes: several country sites, new approval processes or an application with a different data model. We compare the cost and implications of rebuilding within WordPress with those of migrating, including editing, integrations and maintenance.

Open source, with a choice of hosting

We work with the open-source software from WordPress.org, which does not require hosting on WordPress.com. Hosting, paid plugins and renewals are budgeted separately from development. The handover includes the code, access credentials and technical documentation.
