Website editor: AI can edit forms and navigation
The website assistant now supports more targeted changes. It can create and edit web forms, and add, rename, nest or reorder menu entries. “Select Elements” lets an editor point to the precise page block they want changed.
The assistant can also use existing product and event records when building a page. For example, an event page can draw on a record already in Odoo instead of requiring its details to be supplied again in a prompt. The editor marks blocks that the assistant has generated or changed.
- More control over form inputs
- Forms can restrict uploads to specified file types, set character limits and accept email addresses only from selected domains. Dropdowns can start without a default value, requiring visitors to make a deliberate choice.
- Richer menus and reusable blocks
- Mega menus can contain additional content blocks. Entire cards can be made clickable, and individual blocks can be previewed in a mobile layout.
Languages, search and SEO: the specific changes
A multilingual website can offer a German product brochure on its German page and the English edition on its English page. Images and videos can also differ by language. Static pages, such as a contact page, can have a translated web address.
- Search without knowing the exact name
- The updated search can find results even when the search term does not exactly match the stored name. Results are grouped by category. Search can also be limited to products or events, and page names appear in the selected language.
- Responsive images and cleaner sitemaps
- Images use srcset so the browser can choose an appropriate size. Sitemaps include only indexable URLs returning a successful 2xx response. The handling of paginated pages has also been revised to address duplicate content.
- Structured data and llms.txt
- Odoo adds structured data to page HTML. Website settings also allow an llms.txt file describing selected content for AI applications.
Portal and shop: returns, project tasks and B2B pricing
Portal homepage cards can be styled in the website editor and reordered. Customers also gain more ways to handle requests and take part in project work without leaving the portal.
- Handle product returns in the portal
- Shop operators can allow customers to return products through their portal. The checkout can also collect a preferred delivery date.
- Assign project tasks to customers
- Tasks can be assigned to portal users who follow the project. Changes recorded in the task’s activity feed can be displayed in the portal. Project access is managed separately from following its notifications.
- Serve B2B and B2C customers on one site
- Tax-inclusive or tax-exclusive price display can be set per pricelist. Products can have a minimum order quantity, and numerical attributes can be filtered with a range slider, for example to select a dimension.
- Control availability in the catalogue
- Products can be automatically unpublished and republished as stock availability changes. Simpler shops can use a reduced inventory setup without the full Inventory app, keeping one on-hand quantity per product without required stock transfers.
Marketing: visual workflows and conditional newsletter blocks
Marketing Automation gains a visual drag-and-drop workflow builder. Triggers include page visits, mailing-list sign-ups, dates and webhooks. External systems can therefore add participants to a campaign as an event occurs. New actions include “Wait for a value”, allowing a workflow to pause until a particular data value is reached.
Email Marketing also adds several features that go beyond inserting a recipient’s name:
- Conditional content
- Individual newsletter blocks can be shown according to rules for each recipient. One mailing could therefore contain different product information for different customer groups.
- Dynamic mailing lists
- Recipients are calculated from the list’s rules when the mailing is processed, rather than relying on a fixed selection assembled in advance.
- Product and event blocks
- Editors can drop a block into a mailing and select an existing record to populate it. Custom blocks and complete mailings can be saved for reuse as templates.
- Recipient-level click reporting
- Reports show which recipients clicked which links. Link tracking can also be disabled from the HTML editor.
CRM and sales: lead allocation and reusable quotations
A new dropdown switches between sales teams’ pipelines. Automatic lead allocation can keep a team member permanently in rotation, apply a limit or take them out of rotation.
- Reach existing subscriptions from a lead
- Sales staff can open a customer’s subscriptions directly from their lead. Renewal and upsell quotations can be created from the subscription and linked to the opportunity.
- Reuse quotation sections
- Recurring packages of work can be saved as section templates. A whole quotation or sales order can also become a template. Changing a section’s quantity and unit can update its related products together.
- Edit the margin directly
- Changing a quotation line’s margin recalculates its selling price. Lines can also contain just a description; selecting a product record is no longer mandatory by default.
AI: edit records, run automations and connect through MCP
Odoo’s agents can create and update records, use uploaded files as context and answer questions about a file directly from its preview. Automated or scheduled actions can invoke an agent. Its automation chat provides a record of how it handled the task.
The built-in MCP server also lets external AI applications work with Odoo. The connection uses the database address followed by /mcp and an API key scoped for MCP. Tools exposed by default include record search and grouped analysis. An agent could use them to group opportunities by sales team and total their values.
Changes use separate tools, including “Create Records” and “Update Records”, which must be explicitly exposed through “Available in MCP”. Importing contact details from a supplied list is one possible use. The “Readonly” flag is advice to the client, not an access control; user permissions and the actions actually exposed determine the boundary.
For operating costs, note that Odoo 20’s integrated AI features require IAP credits. External AI applications have their own usage costs in addition.

Availability across versions and hosting options
This selection covers Odoo 20’s feature set in September 2026. Some changes reached Odoo Online through releases 19.1 to 19.4. The website assistant was expanded in 19.3, for example, while AI agents and prompt-based page creation were already part of Odoo 19.
Availability depends on the edition, installed apps and subscription. Custom Python server modules require an environment such as Odoo.sh or a self-hosted installation; Odoo Online does not support them.
Several of Odoo 20’s most useful additions fit into familiar tasks: conditional newsletter content, portal returns, reusable quotation sections and AI access to business records. Together, they give editors, marketers, sales teams and customer service staff more options within their existing applications.
